Regarding the 2022 Policy Address’s emphasis on strengthening support for kindergartens, kindergartens and childcare centers and schools with kindergarten classes (hereinafter collectively referred to as “kindergartens”), the Education Bureau previously announced that all entities participating in the Kindergarten Education Scheme in 2022/23 are eligible to apply for the “Healthy Campus” subsidy.
The purpose of this grant is to subsidize eligible kindergartens to purchase, replace, or install ventilation-related equipment to further improve the ventilation of their school buildings. The maximum grant amount is $40,000. It is believed that schools will have varying degrees of questions regarding how to best utilize this grant, such as:
- How can we best utilize this allowance to maximize the prevention of cross-infection through measures such as installing air purifiers, exhaust fans, fresh air fans, louvered doors, and ventilation systems?
- How to determine the priority of implementing ventilation improvement measures and the quantity of different equipment to purchase?
- How effective were the ventilation improvement projects implemented last year? Is there still room for further improvement in air quality?
- What are the alternative solutions if the homeowner objects to the ventilation improvement project?
- Will different types of ventilation equipment increase the electricity bill for school buildings?
